Kinesio Tape

What Is Kinesio Tape?

At Sauk Prairie Chiropractic, we are always looking for ways to improve the care that we provide to our patients. This means providing patients with access to the latest equipment in our field. One option that we provide is Kinesio tape. This is often shortened to k-tape; however, there are a few points that everyone should know about this option when visiting a chiropractor in Prairie Du Sac.

How Does Kinesio Tape Work?

For those who might not know, Kinesio tape is a small strip of black tape that is often applied to a site of injury or pain. The point of Kinesio tape is to lift the soft tissue from the surface of the bone ever so slightly. This removes pressure from that injury site, helping to alleviate discomfort. In addition, Kinesio tape can also be used to prevent injuries from happening, which is why they are a favorite tool of chiropractors.

When Does a Chiropractor Use Kinesio Tape?

There are a few reasons why a chiropractor might seek to use Kinesio tape. First, this type of tape works well for patients who are trying to complete physical therapy or engage in sports without pain. This type of tape is resistant to sweat and will still in place during physical activity. Furthermore, Kinesio tape can also be used to improve a patient's confidence in an injury that has recently healed, allowing them to move more freely.
